It is the moment where not only the common men have come in unison to come together for a common cause. The Coronavirus pandemic has people all around the globe put on high alert, forcing them to stay indoors to curb the spread. But the world leaders and prominent men from all the fields are the most in focus and they haven’t led their countrymen down. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is one such figure, who has extended his helping hand during this time of crisis.
The former Indian captain has vowed to support the underprivileged people of the nation in the form of monetary measures. Ganguly will support that section of the society by donating rice worth INR 50 lakhs as confirmed by the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Along with Lal Baba Rice, Ganguly would assist the people deprived, who have been admitted in government schools for safety and security. A statement from the company hopes that the initiative would help other people step up the disadvantaged sections of the society in the state.
“Hope this initiative of Ganguly would encourage other citizens of the state to take up similar initiatives to serve the people of our state.” a statement from the organisation said as quoted by Deccan Chronicle.
Earlier, former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir also supported Delhi with an amount of INR 50 lakhs in his letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Gambhir also wanted stern action in place for those people, who don’t adhere to the guidelines from the government and health authorities.
Also known as COVID-19, the disease first erupted in China in December last year. Since then, the virus has rapidly made its presence felt in over 150 countries, infecting more than 400000 people. India, alone has in excess of 500 reported cases with 11 fatalities so far.
