The world of cricket has been shaken by the ban imposed on one of Bangladesh's best all-rounders, Shakib al Hasan, who was ironically leading a protest against the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) fighting for players' pay and freedom last week itself. In a sudden turn of events, Shakib has been handed a two-year ban by the ICC. Shakib has been trending on social media as cricketers and fans tweet their views about the cricketers' ban.
Failure to report corruption
Shakib has not been banned for match-fixing but for failing to report the approaches that he received for indulging in corrupt practices during Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe tri-series of 2017-18 and the 2018 Indian Premier League. Shakib is now banned from cricket for two years, one year out of which he will serve suspended. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has also tweeted about Shakib's charges.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has noted the @ICC’s decision to ban @Sah75official from all cricket for two years, with one year of that suspended, for accepting three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. https://t.co/swFpCTaoIm— Bangladesh Cricket (@BCBtigers) October 29, 2019
However, Shakib's teammates also took to Twitter and other media outlets to share their thoughts on his suspension and support him, expressing their admiration for him. Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza, Sabbir Rahman and Mustafizur Rahman are a few examples of those who did so.
Very sad to even think Bangladesh cricket without you bhai. In shaa Allah you will come back stronger than ever. Always have the support bhai! ✊🏽✊🏽 @Sah75officialpic.twitter.com/I1a8bKDfgm— Sabbir Rahman (@OfficialSabbir1) October 29, 2019

Shakib's wife and PM stand in support as well
Shakib, who now stands to miss the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia, is being supported by a lot of important figures in his country including the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. PM Hasina Sheikh was quoted by a news portal as she clarified that the government could not interfere with the ICC's decision but will support Shakib through these tough times. Shakib's wife, Sakib Ummey Al Hasan, took to Twitter to support her husband and guarantee that he will be back - stronger than he has ever been.
