Takumi Minamino has explained how former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa helped convince him to join Liverpool.
A £7.25million release clause in his contract was triggered by Liverpool, with the Premier League leaders striking a deal for Minamino with RB Salzburg before the transfer window opened.
The Japan international has been eased into life at Anfield, making two starts in the FA Cup and appearing off the bench twice in the Premier League.

And Minamino has said that Kagawa spoke very highly of Jurgen Klopp – who the former Man Utd man worked with at Dortmund – before the 25-year-old decided to join Liverpool.
“I spoke to Maya Yoshida at Southampton but I didn’t ask him about Liverpool,” Minamino said in Liverpool’s official match programme.
“I just told him that I would be coming to the Premier League, but I never told him that it would be Liverpool!
“I also spoke to Shinji Kagawa as he had played for Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund, too. Klopp talked to me about Shinji and Shinji talked about Klopp and from that I could sense that they had a really good relationship.
“Shinji said that Klopp was one of the best coaches in the world and now that I am here and working for him I have also realised he is one of the best coaches around.”
