Wasting food is wrong in every sense. This is wrong for those farmers who grow food by shedding their blood and sweat.
To eliminate this food waste Ibnii Spa and Resort in Coorg has started a program called 'Weight the Waste'. Through this program, resort people are motivating their guests not to leave food in the plate.
Resort CSR Adviser Says:
This process is very simple, at the end of the meal, whatever is left in the plate, we measure it on a balance in front of the guests and keep the record with us. Till they stay in our hotel, we follow the same procedure after every meal of theirs. Finally, at the time of leaving the hotel, we take 100 rupees per gram of this wasted food from them.
According to one news, the amount deposited under this program is given to the resort Madikeri Girls Home orphanage where 60 children live. Before the implementation of this program, the remaining food was stored in 14 big boxes near the resort daily. However, after six months of the program, this number has come down to 1.
This move of the resort is getting a lot of praise from people. People are demanding similar programs in the rest of the place so that food is at least wasteful.
