With 227 fresh cases in 24 hours, India reported its sharpest spike in the COVID-19 cases in a day. The total number of positive cases has now climbed to 1,251 with 1,117 active cases and 101 recovered cases, one migrated and 32 dead, according to the latest figures released by the Health Ministry.
The global death toll has now reached 36,211 with the highest number of deaths in Italy, according to John Hopkins. The number of infected people in the world rose to 755,591 around the world while 158,527 have recovered.
The Centre has asked all state governments to allow only essential services to operate across the country.
