TVS has launched a sportier edition of the NTorq 125. We tell you what's changed and what's not in this new variant
TVS has launched a new sportier variant of the NTorq 125 called the NTorq 125 Race edition. The new scooter gets new updates to stand out from the regular NTorq 125. We list the new stuff you get and whats carried over from the NTorq 125 in this new Race edition.
Straight off, the big change is the new headlamp. Then there is the three-tone paint job with sporty chequered graphics which will make this Race edition stand out from a sea of other NTorq 125’s. What remains unchanged are the body panels, seat, turn indicators and rear tail lamp design. Even the wheels an exhaust muffler design remain unchanged.
Another change in terms of features is the addition of an LED headlamp unit. The unit also encloses a large LED DRL that sits in the centre of the headlamp and lends the scooter a unique look. It also gets hazard lamps which can be activated via a red button on the switchgear. What remains unchanged are the LED tail lamps and bulb type turn indicators. Even the comprehensive Bluetooth connected full-digital instrument console remains unchanged. Not that it is in want of an update.
While we expect TVS to launch the NTorq 125 soon with a fuel-injected BS6 compliant motor, that's still some time away. What we get instead is the same carburetted 124.79cc motor from the standard NTorq 125. This unit delivers 9.4PS and 10.5Nm of torque.
The NTorq 125 Race edition is based on the NTorq 125 and gets the same underpinnings of the later. Not that it is a bad thing as the NTorq 125 is a sporty scooter. It gets suspension in the form of telescopic forks and rear gas-charged monoshock. The 12-inch alloys get thick tubeless wheels while braking is via a front disc and rear drum with combined braking as standard.
At Rs 62,995 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the NTorq 125 Race edition is Rs 3,000 more expensive than the standard disc brake-equipped NTorq 125. While the price premium s slightly on the higher side, it does get you a more unique and sportier-looking NTorq 125.
