Susanna Reid, 48, spoke candidly about her friendship with ITV host Lorraine Kelly, who recently turned 60-years-old. The Good Morning Britain presenter has now revealed her co-star has a “new boldness” which she has encountered in recent months.
The small-screen star’s appraisal comes after Scottish native Lorraine has been involved in a couple of run-ins with guests on her show live on-air.
Earlier this year, viewers may recall the ITV presenter taking aim at Tory minister Esther McVey.
Speaking in her column for MailOnline, Susanna addressed the “new” Lorraine.
She said: “This week, I went to a big birthday lunch for my friend Lorraine Kelly. Turning 60, she looks more fabulous than ever.Susanna Reid reacts to ‘feisty’ Lorraine's outbursts (Image: WENN/ITV)Lorraine Kelly vented her frustrations live on-air (Image: ITV)
“But what I've detected in recent weeks is a new boldness evidenced by her takedowns on-air of Tory minister Esther McVey and Boris Johnson's 'friend' Jennifer Arcuri.”
Susanna continued: “Those 'handovers' between our shows I have now relabelled 'The Lorraine Moment'. You never know what's coming.”
Lorraine has now explained her recent “feisty” actions on her show as she admitted Piers Morgan was rubbing off on her.
“I think it's a combination of growing older and 'The Piers [Morgan] Effect’,” she tells Susanna.Lorraine Kelly recently hit out at her guests on her show (Image: ITV)Lorraine Kelly recently celebrated her 60th birthday (Image: GETTY)
“That day with McVey was a culmination of me being totally fed up with toxic politics.”
She added: “With Arcuri, I was irritated with her not answering questions and simpering and smirking.”
Susanna quipped: “I’m loving the new feisty Lorraine.”
It comes after Lorraine said on-air she cannot remember ever interacting with politician Esther McVey when she appeared on GMB because lots of people were put in the same dressing room at the time.
More recently, she slammed Jennie Arcuri for not answering her questions when she appeared on Good Morning Britain.
Meanwhile, the mother-of-one appeared a little worse for wear when she was pictured leaving her star-studded birthday bash this week.
The television host, who presents a self-titled ITV breakfast show, celebrated her milestone 60th birthday with a host of famous faces from the channel.
Attendees to the birthday bash included Susanna, Charlotte Hawkins and Laura Tobin.

Other celebrities spotted leaving the Mandarin Oriental hotel also included Ben Shephard and Christine Lampard to name a few.
Lorraine put on an animated display as she navigated the stairs to leave the venue following a three-course meal with her work pals.
She was wrapped up against the cold in a black coat and silver scarf and carried a small box in her hands and was closely followed by her mother Anne.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6.30am and Lorraine airs at 8.30am on the same channel.
