Hurkacz takes on world No 4 Federer in the Indian Wells Masters quarter-finals tonight.
The 22-year-old Polish star has announced himself to the world with a brilliant run in California where he has knocked out Kei Nishikori and Denis Shapovalov.
He comes up against 20-time Grand Slam winner Federer on centre court for a place in the semi-finals.
And Hurkacz admitted he has always looked up to the 37-year-old - just like he has Nadal and Djokovic.
"Yeah, I mean, many players, top players. Roger, Pete [Sampras] earlier,” Hurkacz said when discussing his idols.
“Novak, Rafa, and there are others.”
World No 67 Hurkacz has met Federer once before when they practiced together ahead of the Shanghai Masters.
But he was unable to get any career advice from the veteran.
“I hit with him once in Shanghai last year,” Hurkacz said.
“It was just practice session. I mean, hitting with him is something different.
“It was a lot of fun for me. Yeah, playing a match is even more fun.
“[Being] here in the quarterfinal is something special for me.”
Meanwhile, Federer is excited at the prospect of facing a new opponent.
“I have never played him before other than practice,” Federer said.
“It's nice to see what they have in the matches, you know, and really get a sense how much more we will see of them.
“For me, at a top level, I like it that I'm not playing the same guys every single week.”
