The Centre is set to withdraw the Gandhi family's Special Protection Group (SPG) security cover. The Gandhi family -- Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra -- will continue to have Z-plus security cover.
Rahul Gandhi took Twitter on Friday evening to thank the SPG security officials for their services to his family.
Rahul Gandhi wrote that "it was a privilege".
"A big thank you to all my brothers and sisters in the SPG who worked tirelessly to protect me and my family over the years," Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter.
Rahul Gandhi added, "Thank you for your dedication, your constant support and for a journey filled with affection and learning. It has been a privilege. All the best for a great future."

According to sources, the security of the Gandhi family will now be taken over by commandos trained by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The sources added that the decision to withdraw the SPG security cover has been taken after assessing threat inputs from all agencies.
Recently, the government had downgraded the security cover of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Manmohan Singh's security cover was downgraded from SPG to Z-plus.
The Special Protection Group is an elite armed force that provides proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and his or her family members.
