Janata Dal (United) Vice President and ace poll strategist Prashant Kishor said that new AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra does does not have a magic wand which will change the party's fortunes just two months before Lok Sabha elections. He was speaking with media in Patna
However, he conceded that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is a big name in politics and will definitely have an impact on BJP-led NDA in the long run if she works hard.
"Today's the first day of Priyanka Gandhi in [active] politics when she is doing a road show in Lucknow. Only time will tell whether she can change fortunes of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh", Prashant Kishor said.
Prashant Kishor said that he was in favour of Priyanka Gandhi leading Congress campaign during Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections in 2017. Prashant Kishor was working as a poll strategist for the Congress during Uttar Pradesh elections.
Even when he feels that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won't be able to create magic for the Congress, he agrees that situation on the ground has changed after Priyanka Gandhi's appointment as AICC general secretary of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Recently, Prashant Kishor met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai.
"Since Shiv Sena and Janata Dal-United are part of NDA, we can help each other during Lok Sabha elections", said Kishor about his meeting with Uddhav Thackeray.
He further said that Uddhav Thackeray had assured him that his party will not attack Biharis living in Maharashtra.
Saying that JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar is a tall national leader Kishor clearly said that Nitish Kumar was not in the race to become Prime Minister of the country.
