Mi MIX 4 specifications tipped: Snapdragon 855+, 108MP camera, 4,500mAh battery, and more
Mi MIX 4 possible design, as revealed in a patent filing for Xiaomi phone with periscope lens

“Other leaked Mi MIX 4 specifications include 12GB RAM, 1TB storage, 45W wired fast-charging, MIUI 11 custom OS, and ceramic design”

The alleged Mi MIX 4 specifications have been tipped by a Chinese leakster on social networking platform Weibo. Some of the leaked Mi MIX 4 specifications are along expected lines, such as Snapdragon 855+ processor, 108MP primary rear camera, 12GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, and UFS 3.0 flash memory. But there are a few more details worth looking at in the leak though, such as the 4,500mAh battery with 45W wired fast-charging and 30W wireless fast-charging, an audio jack, and MIUI 11 custom OS onboard. The Mi MIX 4 display is also tipped to have 2K resolution and will be curved on the sides, while the body is said to be ceramic.

Despite the strong specification sheets, the camera setup of the Mi MIX 4 will be the most interesting for fans as well as the technology industry in general. It will be the first time we will see a 108MP sensor being used on a smartphone. This sensor will be backed by three other lenses in the quad rear camera setup — a 16MP sensor, a 12MP sensor, and a periscope lens. We recently unearthed a patent that showed a Xiaomi phone with periscope lens.

Samsung earlier this month announced its ISOCELL Bright HMX image sensor with 108MP for smartphones as a successor to its fairly recent 64MP Bright GW1 sensor. The 108MP Samsung sensor uses pixel-binning technology to stitch four 27MP images into a single 108MP photo (12,032 x 9,024 pixels resolution). It is also the first to feature the 1/1.33-inch size to help capture more light in dark environments as well as pixel-merging Tetracell technology. The sensor will be able to record videos in 6K resolution at 30fps. We already know Mi MIX 4 will be the first smartphone to feature this sensor and is expected to launch either in late 2019 or early 2020.

As for the other specifications, we knew about 45W fast-charging support thanks to a 3C certification and also that wireless charging support will be faster than 20W. A 5G variant of the Mi MIX 4 is also said to be in the works. The new leaked specifications are more believable than the rather outlandish report that claimed the handset will feature 16GB RAM and 100W wired fast-charging and 50W wireless fast-charging.
