Government of India launched the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020 in 2013 to achieve national fuel security by promoting hybrid and electric vehicles in the country.
With the support from the Government, it is expected to reach a sale of 15-16 Million by 2020. With this it is expected to save 9500 Million Liters of crude oil equivalent to Rs. 62000 Cr. savings. Government has launched the scheme namely Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME India) under NEMMP 2020.

Tata Tigor EV
Expected to launch in may 2019 with a price of Rs.12.0 lakh

Hyundai Kona Electric
The first electric compact SUV. Expected launch will be in the end of 2019 with an estimated price of Rs.25.0 lakh
Renault Kwid EV
Kwid will be Renault's first affordable electric vehicle. Still waiting for the clarity on government policy on electric vehicles. The estimated price will be Rs.5.0 lakh
Maruti Suzuki WagonR Electric
This will be MSIL's first electric vehicle in India. Likely, to hit the Indian roads by 2020 with an estimated price of Rs.8.0 lakh.
Tata EVision Electric
This concept will be based on Tata's OMEGA architecture, which will be the base for all future electric car from Tata. OMEGA stands for Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced.
