- Discovery Sport starts at an introductory price of Rs 44.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
- Updated Discovery Sport might use Premium Transverse Architecture.
- Land Rover had recently launched Discovery Sport Landmark Edition.
Land Rover is getting ready to give Discovery Sport major updates this year. The premium SUV, which was introduced as a replacement for Freelander, is facing stiff competition from the likes of BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Volvo XC60.
According to a report by Autocar India, Land Rover might change the entire D8 platform on which Discovery Sport is based. Notably, Tata Harrier in India also makes use of the same platform. It is expected that the SUV will now use the company's Premium Transverse Architecture on which Range Rover Evoque is based.
It is possible that the company might bring certain changes on the exterior design of Discovery Sport to make it look more bold. The front fascia can be expected to get some tweaks. The upgraded version might sport new headlights and refurbished grille and bumpers.
Inside the cabin, Land Rover is expected to provide more luxury with premium upholstery and the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which features in Range Rover Velar.
Land Rover Discovery Sport is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol motor makes 237 bhp of power and churns out 340 Nm of torque. The four-cylinder, 2.0-litre diesel powertrain produces 177 bhp of power and is good for 430 Nm of power. Both the engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
