For past couple of years, smartphone makers have moved away from the trend of introducing their high-end flagship devices at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), opting for individual launch events instead. But now, word is that LG is talking a break from this trend by introducing its upcoming flagship smartphone- LG G8- at MWC 2019.

According to a report by Android Authority, the Korean electronics giant is reportedly planning to launch the LG G7 ThinQ successor, last year, at the MWC 2019 that is scheduled to take place in Barcelona between February 25 and February 28.

While nothing is set in stone, but if the Korean manufacturer does decide to launch LG G8 or LG G8 Thinq, or whatever the company decides to call it in the end, in Barcelona, it will be returning to the stage at MWC after almost two years. LG had last launched LG G6 ThinQ at MWC 2017. However, it skipped MWC 2018 to launch LG G7 ThinQ at a special launch event in May last year.

Besides launching its upcoming flagship device-- the LG LG8- on the sidelines of the mobile mega-fest,the company is also reportedly planning to accelerate its production schedule for the year 2019. At this point it remains unclear what prompted this change or how it would change the availablity of its flagship device in the global markets, but it is nice to see LG getting back in the game and going toe-to-toe with its competitors which includes Chinese brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus among others.

Notably, when it comes to the details and specifications, the upcoming LG G8 is total mystery right now and little is known about the phone at this point. But if previous reports are to be believed, the phone could come with Sound-on-Display, which means that the phone, instead of having an earpiece on top, would produce sound using a combination of bone conduction technology and vibrations to deliver sound via the phone's display.

Apart from the audio, the LG G8 is expected to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and come with up to 6GB RAM and storage space that can be expanded further using a microSD card of up to 2TB. The phone is also tipped to come with a 3D front camera and a triple-camera setup at the back.
