The ICC has announced the latest Test rankings after the Ashes series and after the first Test of Sri Lanka and New Zealand. This time too, Indian captain Virat Kohli has made his place at number one in the rankings. Kohli has been in the number one position for a long time and he currently has 922 rating points.
Smith and Williamson close to beating Kohli
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson currently occupies the second position in the rankings. He was a complete flop in the first Test against Sri Lanka but still he is just 9 points behind Kohli and currently has 913 rating points. At the same time, Steve Smith is also seen in tremendous form. He scored 142 and 144 runs in the first Test of the Ashes, which has brought him straight to the third place. Smith currently has 903 rating points and is just 19 points away from Kohli while his formidable form still continues.

Cheteshwar Pujara in the fourth position is followed by Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Steve Smith in the first three places, who currently have 881 rating points. New Zealand's Henry Nicholas also came in fifth place. Australia's David Warner is in seventh place while Joe Root is in sixth place. Faf du Plessis is in tenth place with 702 points.
