Hanuma Vihari smashed brilliant century in the only warm up match against New Zealand XI but Cheteshwar Pujara missed by 7 runs. The starting of match remained shocking as India lost 3 wickets on only 5 runs.
Once again, opening pair of Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw failed to give good start. Shaw departed at duck while Agarwal added only 1 run. The very talented Shubman Gill, who may debut in Test, failed to impress Captain Virat Kohl. He departed at duck. Ajinkya Rahane also could not do much as he dismissed at 18 runs.
Thereafter, Chetshwar Pujara and Hanum Vihari played brilliant game and made 195 runs partnership for 5th wicket. Hanuma Vihari amassed brilliant century. He got retire hurt at 101 runs. He faced 182 balls and smashed 10 boundaries & 3 sixes in his sparkling inning.
But Cheteshwar Pujara lost his equanimity when reached very close to century. He missed century by 7 runs as he became victim of Jake Gibson at 97 runs. Pujara played 211 balls and struck 11 boundaries and 1 six.
