A video of a man pulling the tail of an elephant while it tries to walk away peacefully has been going viral. The eyebrow-raising video is from the remote village of Jhargram, West Bengal.

The video shows an elephant trying to walk away, while a villager pulls on the animal's tail really hard. It is evident that the gentle giant was in a lot of pain. The clip shows that the other villagers in the vicinity were recording the video and laughing instead of stopping the man.

If you look carefully you will see that there are people standing with sticks in their hands to hit the elephant if anything goes wrong.

This particular area recently made headlines due to the increase in the elephant attacks. In the past few months, there have been a lot of man-animal conflicts in the village.

The forest department has also been under a lot of pressure lately due to these attacks by the agitated elephants.

However, after the video went viral on social media platforms and came on the radar of the forest department, they took note of the incident and have initiated action against the people in the video.
