Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance has launched a customer outreach initiative to provide easy access to bank credit which will include vehicle loan, housing loan, personal consumer loan, education loan and also loans to MSMEs (including e-Mudra) and agriculturists including Self Help Groups.
Apart from providing easy access to bank credit, the initiative will also focus on financial inclusion schemes and digital payment.
All PSBs, invited NBFCs/MFIs/SIDBI and private sector banks will be participating in the programme.
In a press briefing on Friday, Paogin Haokip, assistant general manager, SBI, RBO, Dimapur said that under the initiative, Grahak Melas will be conducted in each of the states and UTs in two phases. The first phase, covering 240 districts of the country will be conducted from October 3 to 7 and second phase from October 21 to 25.
He further informed that in Nagaland Phase-I of the Grahak Mela will be held at two centres, viz., at Angami Women Organisation Conference Hall, Kohima on October 3 and October 5 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.
He stated that fresh loan applications, including applications under the Contactless Platform (CLP) will be accepted at the Mela. Loan application forms, computer with Wi-Fi connection etc will be available at the venue itself to help customers to submit their applications.
Haokip further stated that sanction letters / in-principle sanction letters will be issued and handed over to the eligible applicants on the day.
