Critically acclaimed director; Soojit Sircar along with producer Roonie Lahari, have announced a biopic on the revolutionary Udham Singh, whose character will be essayed by Vicky Kaushal.
However; ever since the film has been announced, the rumor mill has been churning news of the makers approaching Sara Ali Khan for the female lead of the film and Sara turning down the role because she did not find it very meaty!
And now at last; the film's producer, Ronnie Lahari, who has produced films like Pink, Madras Café and Vicky Donor, has come up with a statement to clear the air around these speculations.
Ronnie's statement reads," There is a rumour doing the rounds about the casting of our film, Udham Singh. The only actor on board the project currently is Vicky Kaushal who will play the lead. We would like to categorically state that no other actor or actress has either been approached or offered any role in the film. We request you to refrain from conjecture on this matter."
The biopic which is helmed by Soojit Sircar and features Uri actor Vick Kaushal in the lead; is based on the life of freedom fighter Udham Singh, who had killed Michael O'Dwyer, former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab of British India to avenge the ruthless massacre of the Sikhs in Jallianwala Bagh in 1919.
In the meanwhile; Sara has been taken on board for Imtiaz Ali's sequel ‘Love Aaj Kal 2' starring Kartik Aryan in the lead, and Vicky will next be seen in Karan Johar's magnum opus ‘Takht'.
