Asus ROG Phone II to be the first to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC: Details

Asus on Friday announced that the upcoming gaming smartphone from Republic of Gamers (ROG), the ROG Phone II will be the first to be powered by the new Snapdragon 855 Plus Mobile Platform. The Asus ROG Phone II is again gaming-focused smartphone, much like the Asus ROG Phone, and will be targeted at mobile gamers. |K|

Talking about the new Snapdragon 855 Plus, the chipset will be based on a Kryo 485 CPU and will be clocked at up to 2.96GHz, which is a 4.2 per cent improvement compared to the 2.84GHz of the Snapdragon 855 SoC. According to the available details, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus is again built on 7nm architecture.

The Taiwanese handset maker says that the new ROG Phone will offer users the best possible mobile gaming experience, building on and adding to the innovations of the globally acclaimed ROG Phone that made its debut in 2018.

"Full details and specifications of this exciting new gaming phone will be announced in the coming weeks, but the uprated power of the Snapdragon 855 Plus ensures that overall performance will take yet another leap forward," Asus said in a statement on Friday.

The Asus ROG Phone II is expected to launch next week globally, and we can expect it to be launched in India soon.

Talking about the Asus ROG Phone, the smartphone was launched in Black colour and launched in India at Rs 69,999. It came with a 6-inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate and 18:9 aspect ratio. It was powered by 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU coupled with LPDDR4X 8GB of RAM. For cameras, it came with a Sony flagship IMX363 12-megapixel dual-pixel image sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 78.2-degree field of view, phase-detection autofocus, optical image stabilisation, and LED flash.|R|

At the front, there was an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The cameras can record 4K UHD (3840x2160 pixels) video at 30/60 fps for the primary rear camera. The Asus ROG Phone came with dual front-facing 5-magnet stereo speakers and also featured IPX4 splash resistant body. It came with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Asus ROG Phone came with gaming-specific features like Air Trigger, side-mount connector, and packed a massive 4000mAh battery.
