Another good reason to order those Christmas coffees! Festive beverages from chains such as Costa and Starbucks cost 5% LESS than their regular menus

Many high street coffee shops have unveiled Christmas menu for festive monthsBut the delicious hot drinks and sweet treats may put some off with price tag But because festive menu includes syrups and cream, it can work out cheaper Starbucks, Costa and Greggs are less than regular drinks with syrups and creamMeanwhile Pret's flavoured coffees are the same in price as festive menu

Now that Halloween is over, the Christmas spirit is well and truly in the air, with high street coffee chains unveiling their festive drinks offerings.

At first glance, it might seem as if you have to pay extra for a helping of festive spirit, with Christmas drinks costing more than a regular morning coffee.

However, as these festive drinks often have a shot of flavoured syrup and whipped cream included in the price, the Christmas menu can actually mean you're getting your drink cheaper than your usual personalised order.

For instance, a regular latte at Starbucks costs £2.30, and added syrup and whipped cream takes the price to £3.30, while the version from the Christmas menu costs £3.15 - meaning the festive drink is five per cent cheaper.

Similarly, festive offerings from Greggs and Costa are cheaper than buying a regular coffee and adding cream and flavourings, however Pret's range are the same price.

Another good reason to order those Christmas coffees! Festive beverages from chains such as Costa and Starbucks cost 5% LESS than their regular menus

High street coffee shops including Starbucks, Costa and Pret have released their Christmas menus this week - with many seeming to hike up the prices on their festive drinks. However, in reality the festive option is actually cheaper (pictured left, a regular Starbucks latte costing £2.30, and right, a Christmas drink costing £3.15)

Coffee shop Costa customers can also snap up flavoured Lattes for less on the Christmas menu, despite the apparent price hike, with customers paying £2.45 for a regular latte (left), but festive Lattes costing £3.30 (right)

STARBUCKS

At first glance, it appears Starbucks has pushed prices up for its festive menu, with Christmas lattes costing up to 31 per cent more than the regular alternatives.

The lattes are available in three festive flavours, and cost from £3.15, while a regular latte is just £2.30.

However, the year-round flavoured lattes start from £2.80, and if you were to add whipped cream, which is included in the Toffee Nut and Gingerbread lattes, it would add 50p to the price - bringing it to £3.30, 15p more.

COSTA

Costa's regular regular latte and cappuccino cost just £2.45, but if you add a flavoured syrup or whipped cream, it will boost your price by 50p.

If customers opt for both the added extras, it'll cost £3.45, while the brand's festive lattes, which come with cream and syrups included, are just £3.30, making them 15p cheaper than the option from the regular menu.

An added syrup shot also makes the regular cappuccino the same price as the Irish Velvet Cappucino, which costs £2.95.

Those opting for the Festive Spiced Cappuccino are actually saving money and paying 10p less for their drink, with prices starting at £2.85.

Anyone with a sweet tooth can normally snap up a hot chocolate at £2.70, and with a dash of added flavour and whipped cream the price would be pushed to £3.70.

But festive iterations cost £3.35 and come with a dash of syrup and whipped cream on top, making them a full 35p less expensive.

However the brand's Christmas Tea costs £2.30, while a normal cuppa costs just £2.10.

Meanwhile coffee lovers at Pret will pay £3 for a Gingerbread or Crème Brûlée latte instead of their regular £3.45 for a regular latte with all the trimmings (pictured left, a normal coffee costing £2.55, with additional extras will cost £3.45, while, right, a festive Pret hot drink costs £3)

PRET

Meanwhile high street brand Pret is charging customers 45p more for their Festive Lattes than their regular coffee, which costs just £2.55.

Pret's coffee addicts looking to get in the festive spirit could shell out £3 for a Gingerbread or Crème Brûlée hot treat.

But as Pret charge an extra 45p for their syrups, a regular latte with a flavoured syrup will push the bill up to £3, meaning there is no price difference between the drinks.

However, if customers opt for added cream with their latte, the regular drink becomes significantly more expensive than the festive option, at £3.45.

GREGGS

Meanwhile Greggs bakery also offers a substantial saving on sweet drinks over the festive period, with the Mint Mocha, pictured right, priced at £2.20 in comparison to a regular Mocha with extra cream, syrup and sprinkles costing £2.80, pictured left)

Greggs regular hot drinks have prices starting from £1.90, including their Lattes, Hot Chocolates and Mochas.

However, their special festive Salted Caramel Latte costs £2.75, and Mint Hot Chocolate costs £2.75.

In this case, adding syrups, creams and sprinkles which cost 30p each, would take a regular latte and hot chocolate up in price to £2.80, which is 5p more expensive than their festive options.

But their festive Mint Mocha drink, which costs £2.20, is significantly less expensive, costing 60p less than a regular Mocha with added extras.
