New Delhi, May 13: If you think that only celebrities live in posh bungalows, then you might be wrong. An auto driver in Bengaluru named Nalluralli Subramani has been staying in a posh villa in Whitefield.
This couldn't have evaded the eyes of the Income Tax department who has been closely monitoring the auto-rickshaw driver. Subramani got a notice for buying a villa in a gated community.
Subramani was also was accused of being involved in helping top politicians in evading tax. But later on, he revealed that the villa is a gift by an American woman.
As per the reports, the woman has been identified as Lara Evison who came to Bengaluru in 2006. Lara stayed in the city till 2010. It's during her stay that Subramani helped her going around places. Lara, philanthropic in nature, having learnt about Subramani's financial conditions helped him monetarily.
And apparently, not only did she help him with the villa but also she provided him with financial aid to fund his kid's education. The 72-year-old woman has also given this statement to the Income-tax department.
According to reports, whenever Lara visits Bengaluru, she stays in the villa with Subramani and his family.
The I-T department's speculation began when they learnt that Subramani was close to BJP MLA Arvind Limbavali and they believed that he was being used as a 'benami' for tax evaders.
But it has been proved that Subramani's assets are as legit and Lara's gesture proves that humanity is still alive.
Subramani's friends are envious of the new-found status of their once-poor friend. Today the auto-driver is rubbing shoulders with the well-to-do neighbours and who are equally surprised by the fortunes of this man on whom lady luck smiles all the while. Today his children are also studying in a good school and it all probability, they will not be an auto driver and have a better career.
