Hardik Pandya has been lambasted throughout for his misogynist and sexist comments on his recent appearance on ‘Koffee with Karan’, and now netizens have unearthed a video which could land Ranveer Singh in trouble. The ‘Padmaavat’ star’s comments on Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor Khan when he appeared with his ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ co-star in the third season of the show in 2011 are now going viral.
In videos from the episode shared on Twitter, Ranveer reveals how he grew from a child to a boy after he used to see Kareena Kapoor Khan swim at a club and asks Anushka if she wants her backside ‘pinched.’
In the first video, he reveals how he was a 'kid' and Kareena ushered him from growing from ‘child to a boy.’ Anushka tells Karan Johar that’s the reason she wouldn’t date him as he is a ‘dirty boy.’ The host responds by seconding her, “Dirty dirty boy’ and that he could be offended by it as he considers Kareena like a sister.
In another video, Ranveer is seen asking if Anushka wants her backside pinched, after which she expresses her disgust and beat him by saying, “Don’t talk to me like that” while KJo laughed.
The videos left Twitter divided. There were many who expressed their anger on social media with unmentionable words, some who compared him to Hardik Pandya and several who tagged Virat Kohli on it.
Netizens also stood up for Ranveer him by writing how the matter wasn’t spoken about years ago and that people mature with age. Some wrote sarcastically how only cricketers had to be careful about their comments while actors get away with it.
A few mentioned about Ranveer-Anushka being in a relationship then, and some who felt it was inappropriate even if they were, as Anushka didn’t seem to like it.
Hardik Pandya is currently in the news after he made misogynist, sexist comments and objectified women on 'Koffee with Karan.' The cricketer has apologised for his comments in a post and also in a reply after the BCCI sent him a show-cause notice. The episode has been pulled down from the digital streaming platform it was airing on.
