We all know CM Punk left WWE on a bad note in 2014. He was facing booking problems and was not happy with his position in the WWE. But since then, the fans have been eagerly waiting to see The Cult of Personality once again in the squared circle.
Though 5 years have passed since CM Punk left WWE, he has not lost fame among fans, and day after day he continues to be hot property in the wrestling world because of the remarkable stint he had with WWE. The fans chant his name in arenas till date, which shows how eagerly the fans await his return.
CM Punk has stuck to his decision, as he has said that he is not interested in returning to WWE. But, this is “WWE” and the fans know that ‘Never Say Never in WWE’, so nothing, even CM Punk’s return can be ruled out. There is no doubt that there will be shock waves in the WWE Universe whenever this living legend returns.
In my opinion, Punk could return to WWE in 2019, and these are the 5 reasons why this could happen sooner rather than later. Also, don’t forget to chime in your views in the comments section.
#5 To boost the viewership
WWE faced a major drop in viewership during 2018 as numbers reduced every week. To bring back the lost viewers and stabilize the ratings, Vince McMahon and Co. took charge in a bid to personally monitor the shows.
Still, this has not helped WWE, as both brands are not receiving good viewership every week despite bringing former legends and new superstars on the roster. The scenario could change if CM Punk returns to the company.
CM Punk has exceptional wrestling skills, and he also cuts nice promos with his mic skills. Many dream matches could take place if CM Punk returns, and this will attract many fans to watch the show. He also could feud with The Authority to invest the viewers, and there is no doubt he can bring back those lost numbers.
#4 To make the potential return of AJ Lee happen
Following her husband CM Punk, who left the company in 2014, AJ Lee also left WWE in 2015. However, around WWE Evolution, the company teased the former Divas Champion’s return to the ring, but due to the bad blood CM Punk has with Vince and co, AJ Lee’s return has also been in question.
AJ Lee was elevated as the best Diva Champion of that time, and she is also remembered as the pioneer of the women’s revolution. If CM Punk re-signs with WWE, obviously AJ Lee will also come back for a second stint in the WWE, and could once again rule the women’s locker room.
With the accompaniment of CM Punk, she can bring a lot of stability to WWE with her charisma and competitiveness, especially as Ronda Rousey is expected to take a break after WrestleMania 35.
#3 Due to his failure in UFC
After leaving WWE, CM Punk tried his hand in UFC, but unfortunately, he suffered 2 losses in 2 matches before calling it a day on his UFC career. He has the love, passion, and time for wrestling, so still, WWE is the best platform for Punk to do what he actual loves to do.
If CM Punk settles with WWE and ends his cold war with Vince McMahon, both WWE and CM Punk will benefit. Indeed, The Best in The World has a huge fan base in WWE waiting for him to return.
WWE will help him get the spotlight, and could also offer him a big fat monetary deal, which he actually wants. And no company other than WWE can really give him what he wants.
#2 To replace Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar has dominated the entire WWE roster ever since his return to the company. Though he is see-sawing between WWE and UFC, WWE is highly dependent on The Beast when booking big events. But this time, it seems like it is almost confirmed that Lesnar will leave WWE after WrestleMania 35.
This will please the hardcore fans, but on the other hand, it will impact WWE in terms of income and ratings as Brock Lesnar is one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry.
Very few wrestlers have achieved that much fame but a superstar like CM Punk has the potential to fill the shoes of Brock Lesnar. He could become the next Universal Champion and dominate the entire roster.
Also, he could become the Paul Heyman guy of WWE after Lesnar leaves. This will help WWE transform Paul Heyman’s role on TV as the advocate of CM Punk. Altogether this is a strong possible reason why we could see CM Punk again.
#1 Competing toughly with AEW
Currently, AEW (All Elite Wrestling) is challenging WWE. AEW has signed many talented wrestlers such as Cody Rhodes, the Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, and most recently Kenny Omega.
AEW is also rumored to sign a big name from WWE. They are trying their best to overcome WWE, and are also giving heavy contracts to their wrestlers compared to WWE. The company needs to do something big in order to stand out and stay better than AEW.

If CM Punk signs with WWE, this will be a setback to AEW, as everyone knows what CM Punk is capable of. He can lead WWE to newer heights, beating AEW in professional wrestling and sports entertainment.
